Our Founder

Michael McGee (Kaicho)
Mr. McGee founded the Bushikai Hombu Bugei Dojo on the 11th of January, 1989 (Gusoku-biraki or Armor Cleaning Day in Japan). This was for the purpose of handing down the Traditions of Budo and to spread the warrior arts to future generations. He began his training in the Japanese Martial Arts traditions in 1979. McGee Sensei is a popular instructor at seminars across North America.

Our Instructors have spent many years devoted to training in the martial arts and through extensive testing and certification have attained a high level of expertise to qualify them as teachers.They now enjoy sharing their skill and passing it on to their students. Here are a few of Bushikai Bugei Dojo's instructors, starting with:

Harry Mackenzie (Renshi)
Mr. Mackenzie began his martial arts training in Judo at the age of six and has studied at the BUSHIKAI since 1991 where he holds the ranks of Rokudan (6th degree black belt) in Happou Taijutsu, Shoden Menkyo (first license) in Bojutsu, and the title of Renshi (Lower Master). He also holds Black Belt Rank in Judo under Phillip Porter Sensei and is a member of the United States Judo Association. Mackenzie Renshi was appointed Hombu Cho (director of headquarters dojo) in 2001 and is the Head Instructor at the Bushikai Hombu Bugei Dojo.

William Kirk (Shidoshi-ho)
Mr. Kirk began his martial arts training in 1976 and joined the Bushikai in 2001. He received his Shodan (1st degree Black Belt) in Nihon jujutsu under Mackenzie Renshi in 2006.

Robert Huey-Plewinski (Shidoshi-ho)
Mr. Huey-Plewinski began his martial arts training in 1998 and joined the Bushikai in 2004. He received his Shodan (1st degree Black Belt) in Nihon jujutsu under Mackenzie Renshi in 2007. Mr. Huey-Plewinski also received Shodan in Judo from Philip Porter Sensei in 2007.

Bryan Chasanoff (Shidoshi-ho)
Mr. Chasanoff began his martial arts training in 2001 under Mackenzie Renshi's good friend Kyoshi Allie Alberigo in Long Island, New York. He transferred to the Bushikai in 2004 and received his Shodan (1st degree Black Belt) in Nihon jujutsu under Mackenzie Renshi in 2007. He also brings his experience in the Brazilian style of No-gi Jiu-jutsu.

Dan Huebner (Dai-Sempai)
Mr. Huebner began his martial arts training in 1980 and after earning black belts in several other arts he joined the Bushikai in 2004. He currently holds the rank of Ikkyu (1st Brown Belt) in Nihon jujutsu under Mackenzie Renshi and is currently preparing for his Shodan examination in the summer of 2010.

Casey Film (Shodan-ho)
Ms. Film began training at the Bushikai in 2006 in our Junior program and currently holds the rank of Rokkyu in Nihon jujutsu. She is the assistant instructor for our Peewee Judo program.

Orlagh Mackenzie (Shodan-ho)
Ms. Mackenzie began training at the Bushikai in 2001 in our PeeWee Judo program and holds the rank of Rokkyu in Judo. She is currently ranked #2 in the United States by USA Judo in her division and is an assistant instructor for our Kids Judo program.
